Oh, hi! It's been a while! I enjoyed a nice long holiday break from blogging but I'm BACK and have some fun updates up my sleeve for 2017. If you follow me on instagram (and if you don't, you SHOULD! I post most of my updates/sales there these days), you already know about my goals for the blog this year. But just in case you missed it, here's the plan:
Essays about my experience being the wife of a medical resident — 1 post per month
I keep coming back to this idea that I should write more about my experience as a partner of a medical resident. I remember scouring the internet for advice during Beau's last year of medical school and the very few blogs/articles that I DID find were less than hopeful. While this subject seems like quite a departure from the usual art and business posts that you're probably used to seeing from me, I think this crazy experience we've had walking through medical school and residency has shaped who I am and what this business has become more than anything else. And ultimately, I hope to bring encouragement and advice to those who are in a similar place.
Celebration Series — 1 post per month
I'll be continuing the Celebration Series but with a slightly different spin, which you'll hear more about soon. That's also going to be happening once a month!
Weekly Print Series — 1 post per month
I've also decided to shake up the Weekly Print Series for 2017. This year, I'm just going to MAKE things without a lot of structure around the process. During the last week of the month, I'll put everything that I made that month up for sale all at once (and don't worry, I'll be sure to let y'all know about it). That way I can create for the joy of it, and not feel like every time I post a new piece of art that I need to sell it right then and there. It puts the focus back on WHY I like to create in the first place. And will hopefully make this blog and my social media posts feel less like a big ol' advertisement for my artwork.
Many of these pieces will be originals as well as prints, and all will be affordable. This little guy in the photo (6x6 abstract on paper) as well as the two little Eucalyptus paintings I posted on instagram will be a part of the January sale, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested. 😉
While I'm so thrilled with how my business grew in 2016, all of these subtle changes to my blog content and writing style that I hope to implement feel so much more "me". And that feels really, really good. I like you already, 2017. ❤
I'll be rolling out all of these changes over the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
Love & Respect,
